Sony F3 time lapse sunset test

This is my first time lapse using the Sony F3. I used the interval setting on the camera and it worked out pretty good. Coincidentally the night I shot this was the same night our baby Evan was born. Happy Birthday Evan!

If you reduce the saturation setting in the Picture Profiles when doing highly saturated scenes like this you can prevent the sometimes nasty chroma clipping and banding that you get on the sun. Then in post you can bring the saturation back up again with much more control.

Re: Sony F3 time lapse sunset test

Thanks for your feedback.

I added a lot of contrast in post to bring out the saturation of the colors, the original footage was definitely not as vibrant. The banding seen at the beginning was the fade up from black and how vimeo seems to degrade aspects of the footage. I also chose not to stop down as much near the beginning so it would blow a little, then as the sun was setting rode the iris down periodically until I was fully open on the lens.

The original full HD version on my PC is mind blowing in quality, still I will try your suggestion to see the effect of the finished product.
