Super slow motion artifacts

Hi all,

I shot some super slow motion video at an event I was covering the other day. I mostly shot at 1080p 100fps, but also shot 1 clip at 200fps. The 200fps clip shows some really bad purple/magenta artifacts, rendering it pretty much unusable in my opinion. Some of the 100fps clips also show some minor artifacts.

You can see it on the left side of the runner in the high contrast areas. It seems to only be present where the highlights are clipping/close to clipping (I was shooting in a cave so blowing out the highlights was hard to avoid).

Has anyone else experienced this? Camera fault? SD card fault? Or is it normal and should the highlights be protected when shooting super slow motion?

I haven't tested with another SD card yet, but I'll try that tomorrow.

Any info appreciated.

I can't tell you what caused it, but I think other people would like to know what version of the firmware your camera is using. Just to avoid confusion and to possibly eliminate one parameter from the equation.

Good point. I'm using the latest firmware (1.11)

Its been an issue for me as well, good example showing the problem. Tuff to post about because often people assume you are expecting the same image as HD or confuse the sparking purple with purple fringe (like CA) and the post goes another direction completely.

Shocked I am not seeing more posts about this, I shoot sports and can't use the camera in slow motion

white jerseys with dark numbers
cars
motorcycles
backlit with any shine (like your cave runner)
water
glass
sweat beads on athlete
headlights

Some of these I can never shoot some in defuse lighting will work but never the hard midday sun like most events I shoot are in
