GorillaPod mounted in MINI Cooper S

If anyone's interested, just for kicks I bought one of those Gorilla Pods (with the flexible adjustable legs) and mounted it in the back of my MINI Cooper. I attached my Sony HDR-SR1 HD camera and took a ride down the Palisades Parkway in NY/NJ towards the GW Bridge. The results were actually pretty good... not entirely "Glidecam" smooth due to the occasional bump in the road but pretty good. Basically the view through the camera was of the entire front of the car through the windshield and a portion of my and my wife's heads. With the "steady shot" enabled on the Sony, the video playback was satisfyingly smooth. I think the 20 minute movie is really nice (high def) and the sound quality was great considering how much I really (didn't) put into it.
I'll take a picture of the setup and attach it when I get a chance (I'm at work now)... Basically two of the pod legs were clamped in between the back seats and the rear "decking" above the trunk (which is removable)... with the rear hatch closed it snugly held the Gorillapod legs in a firm position.
You really get a sense of driving the car in my opinion. Pretty cool. :-)

Dave, that sounds pretty cool! Ever since the Gorilla pods came out, I have been debating rather or not to buy one.
I think you just helped me make my decision. :)

What model did you get? The basic point-&-shoot style, the SLR, or the SLR Zoom Lens model?

I can't wait to see the pictures.

I hope to hear more!
