(collective) "It's about time!" :-)
Any chance to see some pics of your rig Leigh? Good sales pitch, but it would be nice to see the product too. Also, no way am I downloading a 216MB demo video. you've GOT TO make it smaller. - Mikko |
Hi Mikko,
I am willing to mail you a copy of dvd disk at my expense. I am not willing to lose the video quality. Would you like me to do that? What video format will you prefer? TIA Regards Leigh Quote:
|
Leigh,
I tried to download two different videos but to no avail. Can you check your system for problems. Tery BTW What does it look like? This will be the LAST time I ask. |
Hi Tery,
Maybe there are lots of people try to download the file and isp server can't cope with that. Maybe you can try later. Regards Leigh |

And that's the last time I'm going to coment on your compression. Right now your video is 0 quality as I can't see it. - Mikko |
Hi Mikko,
I will upload a small video clip hopefully tonight. Regards Leigh Quote:

Leigh, you have alot of repetitive as well as other shots that really don't need to be in the video. You also have alot of blank shots that are really unnecessary. This alone will reduce the size. Try and cut them out if you can. Oh yeah, don't forget some running shot will be in order I hope? I just have to see how weell it operates while running. That should make it challenging :)
Another thing. If you tend to do an introduction video, don't do it at night. Do it in a studio or get lots of light. Another thing. I don't want to get into it but I suggest you get someone who can do the introduction for you. Yes I'm talking about the language part. I'm not trying to be negative but it is hard to understand what you are saying and this tend s to put people off. Just a tip my friend. Please don't take it to heart. :) Also, it's nice to finally see the rig itself. Yep, it's original alright but again there are still some instances that make me unsure. I think you guys will understand whe you finally see the clip. |
Hi Charles,
Thanks for the suggestion. ;-) Regards Leigh |
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have uploaded some photos on my website www.smootharm.com for your viewing. It is midnight now and I don't have time to make a small video tonight. I have to go to sleep now. Regards Leigh Quote:
|
Leigh,
Thanks for letting us see the rig. Is that you in the picture? When I try to download the video I only get about 3 seconds of it each time. Tery |
Hi Tery,
Yes, it is me in the picture. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. You need to use some download manager software application to download the video file, because the file size is not very small. Regards Leigh Quote:

|
Leigh,
Are you going to make a smaller file so I can see what you have been up to? Also, it seems like many of your pictures are the same. Did you intend to do that? Tery |
Hi Tery,
I will upload some small size file later. I will check if any picture are the same. Regards Leigh Quote:

Hi Tery,
I reduced the image file size on www.smootharm.com and remove duplicate images. Regards Leigh Quote:

Leigh,
Hi there and congratulations on getting your stabilizer finished! Can you translate kg to pounds for us in the non-metric world? What is the conversion factor? How light a camera can your rig fly and how heavy a camera can it take? My systems range is about .5 pounds to 7 pounds (I think that's what an XL1 weighs. Tery |
Terry,
the XL1 weighs 2.86Kg ... ok ok, The XL1 weighs 6lb 3oz. To run conversions just type them into google. For example search for "2.86Kg in Lb" and see what you get! - Mikko |
Hi Tery,
Thanks I have updated the front page www.smootharm.com which might answer your question. FYI the conversion factor is 1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds Regards Leigh Quote:

Boy, when you're good, you're good.

Hi Charles,
By your request, I shot my running video for your reference. Here is the link. http://www.smootharm.com/index.php?m...osition=42:2:6 Sorry that I am not very strong and with 48.5lbs(22kg) weight that I can't run very fast. But I do my best with my current experience. I hope ten years later, I might shoot better. Regards Leigh Quote:

I think you forgot to put up the video leigh. Either that or the link is wrong.

Hi Charles,
Have you seen two urls of Click here to download? I just downloaded and watched both videos from www.smootharm.com. Both are fine. What is your error? Can you post some error message in your browser? TIA Regards Leigh Quote:

the last file didn't wor, leigh.
One thing - I'm really confused. The low level shots can be done quite simply by holding the camera handle - you don't need the complexity of a stabiliser. Do some fast action shots - instead of walking, how about running, chasing somebody up stairs, doing a 360 degree rotation etc -this will show the gadget off. The slow stuff is a bit dull, I'm afraid. paul |

mmm, I've been saying the same thing for many many months. I' m glad someone else feels the same way. You Leigh, he is saying nothing new that hasn't been said from time to time during the many months you've had your gear. I really don't know what more to say. |

Leigh is correct. Holding the handle of a camera will not deliver the same amount of isolation that a stabilizer in low-mode can deliver. Under certain circumstances it can look similar, but the degree of accuracy will generally be less with the handheld configuration. I say "generally" because it is operator-dependent. For instance, a 180 degree whip pan is easier to do handheld, whereas on a stabilizer it requires quite a bit of skill to keep it from bucking around once you come to a stop.
Leigh, now that you have your product available for sale, I'm wondering if your intention with the continued posting of videos is to promote the gear, or to invite criticism of your operating, as that represents two separate intentions. A while back you had indicated that you were learning and practicing how to operate so that you could best show the capabilities of your rig, not that you were intending to ultimately become an operator for hire. Is this still the case? |
Hi Charles,
Film photography is art which is my hobby. I have shot thousands of photos and posted hundreds of photos and shared dozens of video. My art has attracted thousands of viewing on internet. Lots of people said that they wish to visit New Zealand after viewing my art. I am very proud of that. I just love art. SmoothArm is my business which brings money for my food. I have no interest to become an operator for hire for money. Regards Leigh Quote:
