Which stabilizer are people using for the Panasonic HMC-150?

I love my HCM-150 but I have noticed you have to be REALLY steady with it.

What are people using as a video stabilizer support for the HMC-150 and comparable cameras?

Thanks,

Simon

If you're looking for a handheld sled only type look at the Merlin or Glidecam.

If you're looking for a fully vested rig the Steadicam Pilot would fill the bill nicely.

Remember in stabilizers it's pretty much. you get what you pay for.

Yeah, the vest setups look pretty sweet!

I will check out the Steadicam Pilot. thanks!

keep in mind no matter what you decide on, it takes practice practice practice and then some more.

Also keep in mind that practice doesn't make perfect, it makes permanent. So you need to practice the right stuff.

Good luck and have fun.

That is true.

What do you own as a video stabilizer if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks,

Simon

Actually i don't own or use one. I have looked at all of them and read just about everything I could over the last 5 or 6 years but never pulled the trigger. Now at almost 63 years of age and probably retiring from the business in the next year or 2 I don't see myself getting one anytime soon.
However if you want all the real scoop about Steadicam Pilots and such read the sticky by Dave Gish in the Stabilizer forum and read every post you can find by Charles Papert. He's a professional operator in H-wood and has done big movies, small movies, TV...you name it.
He is a consumate professional and we here at DVi are lucky to have him around. BTW, Dave Gish ain't so bad either ;-) He's got some great posts in the StabilizerSteadicam forum.
One of the best things you can read is his thread "Things you should befire you buy a Pilot" or something like that. Great stuff!

Cool. I will check that out.

Thanks a lot!
