In case of the Magiqcam, it's gimbal is fixed at a point on the post. To find the CG or balance the rig, you need to either extend the post above the gimbal or extend the post below the gimbal. Or contract the post. -->>>

Hi Charles King,

Thanks for the explaination.

I know you would definately like the sliding gimbal compared to the one you had before. The only way to understand what I mean is to wait and see. I think you'll agree. Then again it's all about personal taste.

Looking forward to those pics Ed.

Sure, a sliding gimbal is the way to go, you will love it! The only bad thing, is that you already waited a long time to receive your rig, and now, you have to wait again.. :-/

better then having a not working rig, i would say. guess i will have to be more careful buying stuff from the net, next time.
anyway, i still think it is a good investment.

the new price on ebay is $18++ without the hard case if i'm not mistaken. it was selling for $15++ before with hard case.

one question - after balancing with the new gimbal and have it mounted on the arm, the sled tend to tilt to the right. what could be causing this? appreciate all the help.

Hey Guys !

Where can I get one of those Gimbals ??

Thanks !!!

Charles King February 15th, 2005 10:08 AM

Again, this sounds like what Ed was experiencing with is new gimbal - Mis-alignment of the tilt bearing axis. I could be wrong. Rebalance and test the rig again.

Terry Thompson February 15th, 2005 01:48 PM

I know that John has a much more expensive gimbal assembly as well as some other improvements. $18++ is cheap for a good stabilizer system even though it's not cheap.

Regarding the tilt, does it balance correctly on the balancing stand and then change when put on the arm? Is the angle from arm to sled the same as when balanced on the stand. I know it's not supposed to make any difference however it would help in figuring out the problem.

i think anthony was asking the question where he can buy the new gimbal and not the balancing problem which i was having. i'm way past this problem and now with a new problem, if you guys remember ;o(

Hello,

Yes, I would like to know how I can get one of those gimbals.

Thanks !!

Sarah Kathryn February 17th, 2005 12:02 PM

Do you own a magiqcam? if you do all you have to do is contact john and he can probably set you up.

Sarah

Anthony Marotti February 17th, 2005 01:46 PM

Hello Sarah,

I don't own a magiqcam, I just want the gimbal.

I don't know John, but I am going to Google "magiqcam" right now.

Do you know if one could purchase that gimbal separately?

Thanks !!
