Glidecam 4000 & DVX settings

Just got a glidecam 4000. It's very difficult to balance. How many weights pieces are you guys using?

Yes its very hard, Yang I recommend using 2 weights on both sides and take your time... I once heard of a guy using rice bags on a tripod not as quite sophisticated as teh glidecam but hey it works.

Glidecam 4000 weights

Yang,

I use the Glidecam 2000 with a 3.5 lb. camera and only have two weights per side. The telescopic post can be moved up or down to fine tune the drop time. Start with the post extended and move it up as you balance the sled.

Is there a reason you went with the 4000 and not the 2000? I thought the 4000 was for the larger cameras like the XL1 and XL2 etc. I guess if you use the DVX with a lot of xtras you might want the 4000.

One of the guys who demo'd our stabilizer arm and vest used the VX2100 with the Glidecam 2000 found it to be fine weight wise. I think it's similar in weight with the DVX. He's pictured here: http://www.enoch.com/terry/preview_004.htm.

After you balance your rig pan the camera 180 degrees (facing towards you) and see if it's still in balance.

Terry
