Mounting Laptop to Glidecam v-20 (frankenstore)

Is it possible to use the lcd mount on the glidecam v-20 for a laptop? The laptop would be connected to the camera via firewire and capturing with DVRACK or something. However I'm not sure if the extra weight at the bottom or top (if shooting low mode)would compromise the function of the gimbal. Has anyone tried this?

That's pretty wacky thinking Roger--but that's a good thing! Some of the best ideas come out of thinking this far out of the box.

What would the point be of this, out of curiousity? Given that you are carrying a tape mechanism up top, built into the camera, and you wouldn't be improving the image by recording through firewire. If it was simply about recording to hard drive rather than to tape, I think one of the Firestore products would be more sensible.

A laptop just seems like an unwieldy mass, difficult to mount securely (think about tilting 90 degrees down or up) and would require additional counterweight in the bag of the rig.

Yes, Charles, I want to the laptop to be the main recording device. I'm a big fan of tapeless. Also want to use the large lcd screen. My laptop is a new but rather large model from dell. I thought, how wonderful it'd be to have this huge screen for a viewfinder and also the 60gb hd to record to - not thinking that in addition to the 5lb weight of the laptop I'd also have to haul around 5 more lbs of counterweights.
