Hollywood Lite VS-1 with a VX2000: Too heavy?
Just wondering if anyone has tried this? Is the
VX too heavy for the VS-1? |
I think the VS-1 will work ideallly with a cameras up to 3lbs. (that's what the specification says.)
Most photographs of the VS-1 have it shown with tiny a ZR-10. You can push it a little bit past that...but you would have to add more weight to the bottom somehow... The VS-1 has a "quick release" plate mounts that onto the "stage" with just two handtighten thumbscrews. So, it might loosen a bit with a really heavy camera. Some locktite should do the trick though... Yoou are generating a huge amounts of innertial/g-forces on that thing when you stop and go and you just don't want the camera pulling flying off from it with a really heavy camera. You will know immediately if it is too heavy for it(after adjusting the gimble location on the shaft)---the camera will want to tip downwards. I used a Hitachi Digital 8 with a Century Optics 16:9 lens...which made it just around 4 pounds and it worked okay. |
