glidecam 2000pro vs 4000pro
 

I'm about to buy a glidecam but was wondering if the 4000 can ballance cameras less than 4 pounds very good or not. I'm will usually be using a vx2000 and big battery. Occasionally some wide angle lenses. Just wondering what your all's experiences have been. Would I be better off with the 2000 or 4000?

Are you going to use just a 2000/4000 pro alone or match them with a smooth shooter system?

I had the 2000 when I owned a gl2. It worked ok. I could get the same results using my monopod or even a folded up tripod.

IMO, I don't think they are worth the money. Your arms will hurt after using one for only a few minutes which makes them very unpractical. I couldn't imagine holding a 4000 with a vx2000 attached.

The 4000 is generally for the larger cameras and the VX2000 is sort of in that range. I would guess it would work fine as long as you can get a good drop time balance. This might mean messing with the bottom-plate weights but it isn't that hard to do. I believe you could balance your camera on either the 2000 or 4000. The question is if you are thinking of getting a larger or smaller camera in the future and will you be adding extras like a wireless mic set-up etc.

The Glidecam 4000 is for cameras more than 6 pounds in weight. I'd guess you could balance a lighter camera with the GC 2000, or if worse came to worse you could always add a few pounds to the camera. I'm sure we must have some of our users who have light/heavy cameras that would get the GC 4000 to handle both.
