Oh...I did think of one more question :)

Have you used this lens with either of the extenders (1.4x or 2x)? I have "heard" they degrade the quality too much with the non-L lenses, but was wondering how they do with a high-quality lens such as this?

I use it with the 2X extender and it works fine. The 1.4X and 2X extenders are not compatible with non”L” lenses. You can see a list of lenses that are compatible here
