Went to bed about 9:30, @ 02:30 my back started hurting. Started cruising the web and saw all the sites had it, checked Canon and they hadn't announced yet but it looked like they had fed the info to the tech sites. Ken, were ya burnin the midnight oil or up early for coffee??

Interesting duel between The DX2 and the 1Ds II, reviews will be eagerly awaited on this one. Price difference vs 4megpixls is going to be an interesting comparison. Nikon dumped it's load before Photokina, will Canon follow or will we have to wait. I thought a black bodied 300d was announced long ago? I never saw it on the market, Maybe the consumer line is going to get a beefed up ?

The black body Rebel was only for Asia, if I remember correctly.

I'm sure that many professional shooters who need all the resolution they can get will be eager to update their 1Ds' to the new 1Ds Mark II. In addition to the significant bump in res it will bring the camera's technology up to the 1D2.

As for me, I am still absolutely thrilled with my 1D Mark II. I just don't really need a full-frame sensor and don't really need the extra resolution, either. I would rather have the 1D2's 8fps burst. I've only used it twice but I really like knowing that it's available.

I am also glad that I did not sell my 10D. It remains an excellent camera and its quiet shutter (I understand that the 20D's is a loud, 1D-like shutter) enables me to use it in situations where a loud shutter would be intrusive.

The wireless transmitter (WT-1) will be backward compatible with the Mark II and the 20D via firmware a upgrade
The WT1's will hit the stores in November.
I wonder what kind or range they will have.
Obviously, this will depend on line of site and other variables.
