how many cameras?

wondering how many HD camera inputs people have been able to achieve. also, has anyone been able to get 2 cameras into a single USB via a hub (3.0 or type C 3.1)? I've got a new system up and running with 3 cameras and looking to get at least 1 more. I just got the new Newtek NDI converter (HDMI or SDI input) but haven't tried it out yet - should be able to expand the cameras by 1 or more, depending on what the computer can handle. your thoughts / experiences?

If you plan your takes right you could use a cheap Ebay switcher with the second and third camera on it. Change camera angle when you are on your main camera. Other than that and you will need to buy a Roland V-1HD video switcher or similar put up to four HDMI cameras into this and one HDMI out through the USB converter.

thanks. I already have a Kramer 4-in 1-out SDI switch, but used to having 4 live inputs in our Tricaster and wanting to duplicate that in a laptop-based system.

I've been able to use 4 on a 2013 MacBook Pro with Wirecast. It has
2 thunderbolt ports and 2 USB 3 ports.

Also using Wirecast on late 2013 15" MBP. Two Blackmagic Ultrastudio MiniRecorders and two Magewell HDMI to USB3 devices (but there are other options).

I use the Apple H.264 encoder to keep the CPU use reasonable (lower than x264).
