I think that Couper Production could do feature film production too!
Jerry Bruckheimer Films is a really ugly name compared to Cooper Production, but I think that it worked pretty well in the long run... |
Ok gentlemen, I've given it some more thought, and am still hitting the wall. I'm leaning towards Couper Productions, or Couper Cinematography (thanks Jon!)
Here are some of my thoughts: The cost of changing names does not affect me: I have to renew my business license, and am almost out of business cards etc.. at this point, so if I don't change now, it won't be for another year. In terms of the business I'm trying to attract: Most of my business last year was private/individual, non-corporate and freelance videography. I like this type of work better than corporate so I'm probably going to try to attract more of it. I don't want to come across as a guy with a camera and a computer, but I don't want to look like a mega-studio so I don't scare away small clients (I'm not a mega-studio anyway). The majority of my work seems to come from word of mouth, but I plan on expanding my advertising this spring to try and increase business. Having my name in the business name would surely help this. Based on the above, does Couper Productions (or Video, or Cinematography, or whatever) make more sense than Pyroglyph FIlms? |
It's always better if your name states what you do: Couper Video.
Couper Productions implies you do more than just video. Couper Cinematography implies film. Pyroglyph FIlms implies film and theatre production and is easy to forget. |
Don't exactly know what Pyroglyph means but it's a bit of a tongue twister. Too many consonants too. Might rub off a little pretentious too.
Now Cooper rolls of the tongue like honey. Ahem. Cooper Concepts? Cooper & Co? |
I've always hated the word 'video'. It just sounds cheap and has a rental quality about it. I always hate when people say "so and so is going to video our wedding". I think one of the reasons photographers earn so much more than us is because the term 'photography' has more weight and value associated with it.
Dylan Couper Films sounds good to me. It has weight and character and sounds expensive. Just be happy you have a cool name that rolls off of people's tongues and has a distinctive spelling. |

Couper Shooters! |
Couper Video Productions, Inc.
Next time I need a film done, I'll give you a call. However, do you know anyone that does training (safety, product, promotional, corporate, image,) videos? |

Next time I need a film done, I'll give you a call. However, do you know anyone that does training (safety, product, promotional, corporate, image,) videos? -->>> Jeff, exactly my point about dropping the term "film". On the other hand, like Matthew, I hate the term video, since I think many people associate it with their uncle Larry and his big shoulder mount VHS camera from 1988. Plus we will offer services as well as video production, like website design. |
Change video to media. CMP, sort of has a ring to it, if you know what I mean.
