help on pricing for a corporate video
 

hi i know this can be different depending on what area you live in. but here is what a client wanted a quote on.

1 day of shooting, exterior and interior industrial facility. no editing needed, as they will send to their corporate head quarters for an editor up by them

filming with 12 foot crane, steadycam, tripod, using lighting, and Sony EX-3

I cam up with $3500.00, it would be my partner and I at the shoot.

That's a pretty darn good day's pay where I live.

What I would quote depends on a few things: For example, did they request the steadycam, or is that simply a piece of equipment in your kit, so you're going to use it? Same question for the crane.

Around here, I get a day rate of $750, and would probably add $200 to pay a grip for the day. If they specifically requested the crane and steadycam, I'd add in the extra to rent the gear.

So my number would probably look more like $1200 (assuming I was somewhat proficient with the steadycam and didn't have to hire someone.)

But if you can get $3500, more power to you!

The price looks okay given the amount of gear needed but you seem to be short crew. Looks like you need at least 2-3 more trained bodies to haul all that gear around and help with scene set up and tear down.

What duration is the corporate to be?

Because with all that gear setups etc., one day, 8-5pm? doesn't seem enough time to me. Watch they don't suddenly rope in any talking heads they chew up the time. Covered for bad weather?

In order to understand the price we need a bit more info.
Is this an open ended day or a finite number of hours?
Steadycam work generally is pricey given the expertise and setup involved . . . or maybe you're just talking about a hand held stabilizer. Setting up and breaking down a crane along with the shot can take some time too. Given the crane and the rest of the gear I assume the price includes an assistant.
Without the above details it's really hard to evaluate.

If it's an open ended day plus assistant, the price is certainly reasonable.
