Yep,

Peter and Boyd are both correct. Any composition, arrangement or translation in a particular piece of sheet music might be a later contribution that is not under PD. But if the notes are strictly Bach's, you can perform it as you wish.

I believe that if the sheet music simply credits the original (PD) composer, and there are no other credits for translations, arrangements, reconstructions and the like, and no unique copyright limitation is claimed in writing, you are pretty safe performing that music. People simply don't get sued for playing Bach.
