The old HK kung fu film look
 

I am curious how to achieve the visual look of the old HK films (late 70's-late 80's). I'm not talking about the hairstyle etc, just the visual look. Any help would be appreciated

Take a look at Magic Bullet Look Suite... there are a 50 odd preset looks so I'm sure you'll find one that gives you what you are after...or you can create your own very easily...

I find it a superb piece of software.

How much is it? My budget (from my pocket) is about spent to where I am poor for the next 6-8 months. What does it do? Do you run a final video through it?

can you post a frame you think best exemplifies what you're looking for? Given clean footage, The MB looks can be achieved through multistep processing in your editor using multiple layers and color correction + other various filters. MB is easier, but more expensive than free.

Time = Money, they are interchangeable in these cases.
