Is there such thing as a cheap Mini35?
 
Anyone know of a cheap Mini35 that would fit a Sony HC1?
Just shooting in the dark here....

Not *quite* yet, but they should be shipping this weekend(ish):

Look for the Micro35/M2 (same unit, renamed to avoid any potential misunderstandings between them and the makers of the Mini35, I believe).

It will not flip the image for you, so you'll need to use an external LCD screen - but in return it loses less light through the system, which is a not inconsiderable advantage...
