Zombie Eyes
 

Hello,

This is my first post and I am excited to be a part of this new community. I have been a long time user and fan of the Panasonic dvx series. Well, enough chat and on to the point.

I am currently in pre production, about to start shooting, for a zombie movie called "Doctor S Battles the Sex Crazed Reefer Zombies". As our shooting date approaches our money is running thin. The last aspect we are trying accomplish are the zombies eye's. We have quite a few zombies on screen at once, at least 5-8 on average.

Contacts are the best way to go but sometimes can cost an arm and a leg. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to create this effect? Does anyone have any good contact stores they can send me to? Is there any kind of CG work I can do?

Spread Hepatitis amongst the cast and the liver damage will cause their eyes to get a nice yellow.

Don't mess with people's eyes. Eyes are expensive to fix and not replaceable.

CG should be able to do what you want. The software might seem expensive, but it's cheaper than a hospital visit due to eye infection or cornea scratch.

Check out forum member Ulric's "Reign of Blood" short to see CGI over live actors as a perfect example. There is even a link to a picture of a before/after shot of a vampire character with tinted eyes. Watch the movie and I'm sure you will agree that professional results are possible with everyday gear. Not only is it done with regular software, it is done without a motion-tracking camera. I was astonished to find that the camera work is all handheld!
