How To Make Videos For the Web
Thought I share my how-to site with the newbies.
"If you are making a video that is going to be displayed on the Internet, there are a few things you can do to improve the look on the computer screen. With better techniques, you can create videos that compress easier and play better on the Web." http://www.squidoo.com/videoforweb/ |
Here's an interesting thing we learned with our web series: When using Sorenson Squeeze to create Flash videos, the software crushes the blacks by 9%. That may be great for high-gain scenes with a noisy camera, but it's terrible for dark, dramatic video.
We solve the problem by rendering one version to AVI normally, and then re-mastering with a 9% brightness lift and 9% contrast reduction (so we don't clip). Running it through Squeeze looks just like the original (from a level standpoint). We shoot 16x9. The resolution is 480 x 270. We just released the first Webisode of our 4th Colonel Crush film, From Russia with ACTION!, here: http://colonelcrush.com/movie/index/00220001 BTW, thanks for the link to your tips! |
