Hi Cengiz and welcome aboard (H)DVinfo.net!

p.s. or as we say in Dutch, welkom!

p.p.s. do keep it English on the forum though, thanks :)

Joe Carney February 6th, 2006 09:41 PM

Mirhaba Cengiz, chok gazelle? (Sorry my Turkish is rusty, not having used it for a long long time). Anyway, welcome.
I lived in Yalova and Karamursel for a little over 2 years.

Emre Safak February 9th, 2006 09:34 AM

Welkom bij dvinfo, Cengiz. I used to live in Holland myself. Check out my Web site and let me know if you are interested in a joint venture.

Rob Lohman February 9th, 2006 01:19 PM

Emre: if you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you live and Holland and
for how long? How and why did you move to the US?

p.s. if you don't want to sure this on a public board feel free to e-mail me. Thanks

Emre Safak February 9th, 2006 01:35 PM

Ik heb acht jaar in Wassenaar gewoond. Nu ben ik een student in Boston.

Did I get that right?

Rob Lohman February 9th, 2006 02:14 PM

Yes you did. Thanks :) I'm trying to move to the US, but that ain't no easy
thing to pull off...

Joe Carney February 9th, 2006 02:20 PM

Yes it is. I didn't realize until a few years ago, unless you get sponsored for a green card, you need a million dollar bond to prove you won't stress the system. I guess it's easier to move to Mexico then just walk right in.
That accounts for about half the europeans living in SE FL. hehehe

btw, you wouldn't happen to know how to program Delphi and Oracle do you?

Rob Lohman February 9th, 2006 02:33 PM

I have Oracle experience (and general SQL). No Delphi, but I did learn Pascal
programming in school. I am a software engineer during the day. It is my
experience that any language / tool can be learned. You are either good at
programming or you are not. In other words you can create (good) solutions
to the "problems" or you are struggling with going from concepts to solutions.
The tools just require time to learn, but that is relative easy.

Joe Carney February 9th, 2006 10:34 PM

Rob, email me about what programming experience you do have.

I write software as my day job too. Pays the bills.

Cengiz,

Alaska is truly a beautiful place, and I understand your desire fully. I have only been there once, but it left an indelible image in my mind. I should go back again!
