Yo from Zoo York aka New York City
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum as you can see. I actually live in Long Island but I spennd most of my time in NYC where I work. I'm 23 and looking to crew up with some people in the area. I haven't been doing much camera work b/c my camera crapped out, an old Canon ZR40. Alittle about myself, I got involved with DV during my senior year in high school with some friends making simple digital movies. We continue at this during the summer before college and it just took off from there. |
Hey there, Kawai, I am in a similar situation; live on Long Island, work in the city. I also haven't been doing much camera work, but for different reasons (namely, I lack motivation, which is a kind way of saying I'm lazy). If you need a hand now and again, I'd be willing to help out, though I must warn I have little real-world experience.
In any event, glad to have you on the forum. It's a great place to hang, and I've learned quite a lot since joining. Welcome aboard! |

Hi all,
I've just moved to NYC from the Bay Area, and come equipped with 10 years of commercial production experience, the last three as a producer. I've also got some great new gear that I'm very pleased with. Cheers, Alex FCP Studio 5 G5 Quad JVC HD-100 |
Hi Alex!
Although I don't live in NYC I visit at least 4 times per year. I am in Atlantic City so if you need any second unit New Jersey stuff, I'm your man. I have access to (mostly) anything police related. Collaboration is the key to success. I have plenty of lights and although I sold my XL1s (I hardly used it) I have my Sony PD 170 and plan to get the Panasonic HVX 200 after all of the reviews are in and the bugs are worked out. Then again, maybe not!
Just PM me through here whenever the mood strikes! |
Hey Hugh,
I'd love to work with you on some stuff in the future. Send me your email address. I'm working on building up a network of shooters and others interested in video. doyle@nomadimagefilms.com |

NY XL1 shooter
Hi Brian:
I live in westchester, about 30 min. from NYC. I've been shooting for about 13 years, the last 6 with my XL1. I'm interested in working with you. I've got a small Lowell light kit with two totas and bogen stands, a few on-camera lights, two Samson wireless systems and a tripod. I've shot various types of performances (concerts, bands, singers), several corporate videos, and too many weddings. Bob bobandren@hotmail.com |
Greetings from NYC
Hi everyone,
I've been visiting and consulting these forums for quite a while, but I finally decided to drop by and introduce myself. I am a multimedia producer currently based in NYC. My work involve web, interactive, film and video production, and I have been doing this for a decade now under different manifestations. You can visit my website at the following address: http://www.solersystem.net (I'm embarrassed to say I have not updated my portfolio in a while, so it may only show projects until mid-2005. I should update it soon). I find the collaborative nature of these forums quite impressive, and the amount of knowledge and expertise that is exchanged here quite valuable. I hope to make contributions at least half as good as most of what I read here regularly. :) Cheers! JS |

NY filmmaker
Hi all,
I just tripped over this web site and it sounded interesting! I'm a film editor and sound editor. Normally I work with companies using SONY F900 series HD cameras shooting in 1080p or with companies using 35mm. I own my own post house as i have gotten tired of spending way too much on post for films. You can see it at www.globalaudio.net . Currently i'm picture and sound editing a Charley Murphy film, and I'm about to go into production on a David Spade film. I just finished a Vanessa Williams and Eartha Kitt film as well. I'm a big fan of meeting new folk in the film and broadcast business, as well, as sharing info and supporting other people in their work. I post a *lot* on the Digidesign site and i've just started posting on the GearSlutz.com site as well. Hope to meet other in the NYC area.... cheers geo georgia hilton MPSE CAS |

Hello from NYC
Hello everyone,
I live in New York City working for a pharmaceutical advertising agency and a freelance stock photographer on my spared time. I do not know anything about video and want to learn as much as I can in the world of filming. I just bought myself a Canon XH A1 specifically for stock video. |
Hi Wilson, congratulations on your purchase and welcome aboard DV Info net. It's good to have you with us!

Manhattan in the house
Hiya everone.
I've been lurking around on this board for a while and haven't introduced myself my name is kaj and I live in NYC. I've been filming on and off for the past 26 years as a hobby. My first camera was 8mm, then VHS then Super 8 and in 2003 I brought my first digital Camcorder the JVC GR-D270 . Now that the technology has matured and prices have gone down I'm considering making the leap from my GR-D270 to either the Canon A1 or Sony V1U. The idea is to make some money out of my hobby although I'm not sure how. Anyway, I'm really happy I to have found this forum. -k |

Greetings from NYC
Hello. My name is Glen and I'm here in The Bronx.
During the day, I'm a network engineer for a small telephone company (I won't mention any names, but the initials are ATT). By night you can find me shooting things with my Canon XH A1 and editing the resulting hodgepodges in Liquid. My goal here is to meet some great folks, learn more technique than I can with the manuals, have my mind jarred with fresh ideas. Glen |
Hi Glen, welcome aboard DV Info Net, it's good to have you with us!
|
Hi Glen!
You found the right place. Nice to see another representative from the land of dirty water dogs and street corner honey roasted peanuts (Mmm mmm mmmmmm!) The peanuts were my favorite Broadway show snack after a dinner at Da Rosina.
Have fun here. |
How'd I Miss This?
Oh! I know! I hadn't signed on in awhile. Nice to see filmmakers from the city that really started it all. Welcome, guys.
