Video sharing and hosting

Hello,
I'm interested where else besides YouTube can one upload videos for sharing either through streaming or downloading?

I know there is www.archive.org where you can upload your Creative Commons lincenced videos for free (ok by me),
then there's also http://stage6.divx.com/ ,but I don't know anything much about it.

Any other good free or non-free services out there? I'm particulary interested in sharing a higher than youtube quality streaming video.

Thanks!

There's a community specifically for HD but I just can't recall its name.

I haven't seen mention of Brightcove.com yet, so I'll mention that I've tested it and got good results out of it.

There's advertising and revenue share options which don't suit all, but even not-for-profit could benefit from it. The quality is way better than YouTube (although if you feed YouTube with high quality stuff in the right format, it can be good enough).

I second Brightcove. Here's a page we put up - for FREE! We use Sorenson Squeeze for the encode and they do not re-encode your .flv files!

You can even embed a customized Brightcove player into a web page like this:

Brightcove is my favourite, and Stage6 for higher def stuff. I've used Revver too.

On my Bunaken page I've embedded a player made in the Brightcove console. It's their "compact tabbed navigation 2.0 player". More on Brightcove players here.

On my Bali page I've embedded a Revver "widget" which displays a collection of videos.

The Brightcove ones are encoded by me in On2 Flix Pro. The Revver ones are done by Revver.

The Brighcove player seems to load slower but I like that it includes video descriptions, which the Revver one does not.

Both are supposed to sometimes include pre or post roll ads, but I think Revver is the only one to actually be doing this at the moment. I think I earnt a grand total of 55 cents from that in like 3 months :)

I'm interested to know people's user experience of the 2 different players. Do the players work well? Are there delays in loading? How about the quality of the encoded videos? Which do you prefer?

Also, has anyone found another way of doing this?

The worst part about Brightcove, Their FLVs can't be downloaded but only viewed unless you had additional plugins in your Firefox (Live HTTP headers).

The one I use is www.blip.tv. It is free and allows you to upload multiple versions of the same file (HD, flv, ect).

I really like the quality I get from Vimeo. I haven't uploaded HD to their site, but they do support it: http://vimeo.com/hd.
