Annoying web site, need help!

A few days ago I was reading one of my buddy's AIM profiles and there was a link in it, i clicked the link and it took me to some porn site. I was wondering what the hell he had it on his profile for, but then when I read further it said that it had taken over my profile and such, and sure enough, my AIM profile was erased and it had that infernal link to the site on it. My home page was reset to that particular site and now, no matter how much I try to change it back to Google, it keeps resetting. It is seriously annoying. I have run ad aware, seached my hard drive, erased all temp internet files and cookies, and it still changes to it. I have run out of ideas, with no where else to turn! Help!

The web site is <removed by wrangler>

DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF IT!!!

Any info would be helpful because like I said, I am tierd of opening up my browser to it. Thanks alot guys!

Try this link: http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/homepage.htm

Specifically where it talks about using REGEDIT to make your homepage changable (this setting could have been turned off). To access Regedit go: Start->Run Then type 'regedit' and hit enter.

Let me know if that helps. I had this happen years ago and just ended up reinstalling windows. It's about time to reinstall again so I may get myself infected and try and tackle the problem again before doing it if that web page doesn't help you out.

Cheer,
Huey

Use Spybot

Ken, first you need to remove any spyware on your computer that the site may have put into your system. I recommend this FREE program.

It is called Spybot and is donation-ware. I use it every day after browsing to remove any spyware that gets onto my browser.

Installing it and running it once may remove that startup page. I don't recommend monkeying with your registry unless you know what you are doing.

There is also something else I recommend to everyone. That is to install the Google Taskbar and enable its popup blocker.

I don't know how I lived before the Google toolbar. It renders obsolete the encyclopedia, the calculator, the phone book, the atlas, the dictionary, translation dictionaries, having to open up Word to do a spellcheck, TV, radio, and newspaper news, clipart collections, consumer guides, USENET, my car, my shoes, my bed, my brain...

Although, in many cases Google isn't as good a search engine as MSN Search. Many more of my web site's hits are from MSN queries than from Google queries.
