Well, I made the effort, and the Atlanta Astronomy Club were superb hosts -- but cloud cover over central Georgia pretty much snuffed viewing from my vantage point. Caught the ingress on a live webcast, though! I hope the rest of you managed to see it.

Hi everyone,
The UK was obviously one of the best places to see it from, and I saw it this morning. It was slightly hazy sunshine, but the projection method worked very well. I used my small astro telescope, and projected it onto a piece of white card. It was well worth seeing, as it really is a once in a lifetime kind of event. To 'see' venus during the day in bright sun was pretty cool. Hope all you US guys can see it in 2012, although not as spectacular as an eclipse, it is much rarer, and worth seeing. Dave. |
