Audio Rant...
Maybe its just me, but I have noticed lately that audio levels in some hollywood productions are getting all wacky. What I mean by that is, I'll be watching a movie, and I can't here the actors talking, so of course I turn up the volume, then all of a sudden...BAM!....Audio is extremely loud all of a sudden. This is kind of annoying, since really the only time I can sit down and watch a movie is late at night when everyone else in my home is asleep. I get yelled at when I turn the volume up, but if I leave it down, I cant hear any dialogue. Discuss.

i dunno about your a/v receiver but there is an option that 'normalizes' all loud and soft passages into one collective loudness. i think it's call "night mode" or somn. it works very well. that or 5.1 headphones (yesh they exist) with all volumes blaring.

Dustin the problem might also be that your systems is basically
too good. The idea (I think) is to give you dynamic range in the audio mix which should give you a more cinema like feel. However it does have the drawbacks you outlined. I still have to try those 5.1 headphones myself. Gotta find them here somewhere first <g> |
OOhhh alright. Thanks for the advice.
