Film Credits: Is there an official format?
 

Hi,

I didn't know what forum to put this in, so in the end I just decided to put it here.

Is there an official format to the way you should organise the film credits?

I am talking about at the end of the movie, when they have all the names going up, and also, before they do the scroll.

You know how there are usually two parts to the credits? One is the one where they just a single title and the name of the person, and have that for a while, then after they get that done, they go to the slow scroll with everthing (which runs for a long time). Is there a site or somewhere where I could know the exact order I should list names? Also, does the director's name always go first after fade-out? Why is it in some movies that they have, 'A Film By ...' right after fade out, then after they show a couple more names, in the end they show, 'Directed by ...' again?

Also another thing, what dictates the order of the departments? Do I do the cast, then crew? Do I put in all the names of the people involved before I put in the names of the songs used in the film?

Also, how does this apply to short films?

Thanks for the link, it cleared a few things up for me. One thing I'd like to as though, when they say, 'A _____ Film', and 'A _____ Production', what's the difference?
