Two CBS News Crew Members Killed in Iraq

Early Monday, a car bomb killed CBS cameraman Paul Douglas and his soundman, James Brolin, in Iraq. Correspondent Kimberly Dozier was critically injured and has undergone surgery.

This is sad news, but we can hope for Dozier's recovery. I saw a live news bulletin early this morning from Iraq on CBS All-night News, that featured her. Douglas and Brolin were likely her crew members. This must have been dispatched just a short time before the explosion. The complaints we have about our own videomaking circumstances become insignificant, when we are confronted with what these brave people face every day. My condolences and I'm sure those of all of us go to their families.

Indeed that is a very sad event.

I found this story from cbsnews written by someone who knew all 3 of them.
It's worth a read (2 pages article):

So much for the complaints that the news media isn't trying to cover the whole story in Iraq. Well, they can't if it's too dangerous to get out of their armoured convoy as these events show.

BTW, by one marker, this has been the most dangerous conflict for the media yet since WWII.
