Very Stiff Pan Movement on Libec T50 head
 

I tried searching a bit but could not find anything.

A friend has this tripod (about 5-6 years old) and the head seems to have recently become very stiff in the panning direction (regardless of the setting toggle switch for this action.) The tilt action seems OK still. He's tempted to dissassemble it to study it further (I managed to put him off this idea...I think....until we get more info as I've no idea what might be lurking in there once we undo those Allen bolts!)

I'm hoping that someone has come across this problem before/can advise best course of action. Many thanks!

Sorry to bump this but my friend is still wondering if this is fixable or if he needs to splash out on a new head.
