tripod? any suggestions?

any suggestion on a good, not so expensive tripod??
something that's good for paning and tilting, sturdy and light weight?

Go to your local camera/camcorder shop and have a look at what they have. There are many *good,* sturdy ones with video heads on them---made for smaller consumer cams. Velboun (don't know if that's spelled right) make many good ones. In fact, I had one, which I used for about 3 years for shooting instructional videos, weddings, funerals, along with other stuff like picnics, nature video and cheeks at the beach. :)

Check the archives... there is thread upon thread on this subject.

On a budget I'd suggest a Bogen 3021 with a 3130 head. Perhaps $140-$150 for both... maybe less.

Going with anything Bogen/Manfrotto is going to get you super good build for just a little more then the cheapest possible pods.

Also when you upgrade you can easily sell them for a little off what you paid... as long as they still look new.
