Good afternoon,

If you want light but solid, these come highly recommended:

I have been thinking about these for back packing!!!

Er, Dale...............

Been doing a bit of housekeeping and discovered this post on the Miller Solo's.

With what you're shooting, I can tell you, "Don't do it!".

Miller, when pressed, admitted that those sticks ARE NOT rated for HD shooting.

I spoke to the General Manager in Australia when I was researching for my current FiberTec's and he admitted they would "not recommend them" for HD long focal length shooting.

Enough said.

Not suprising, given the construction.

If I was still shooting SD, maybe the answer to a maidens prayer, and probably don't wander all over the planet like my Manfrotto 520's, but for HD?

Nah!

Sorry, no quick fix on the support score.

If it's light enough to be a boon, it'll be light enough to be a complete PITA.

Chris,

Errrrr, thanks for that info!!!!

Living in the middle of nowhere I can't just try anything out and more than once bought equipment not up to the job!!

Back packing with farely heavy camera gear is a problem for me, and it isn't getting easier.

suggestions!!!
