Separate tripod for the mic?
Ok..maybe a dumb question, but has anyone used a seperate tripod for your shotgun mic? Reason I am asking...I pickup cam noise with the ME64 on my A1u when the room is pretty quiet. I will filming a HS graduation and was wondering if I would be better off using another tripod?

I know exactly what you mean.
I use a Rode Videomic (also very hot) and it can pick up tape-motor noise in a quiet environment. Soluition i got was this : use a Bescor VB-50 tripod-socket L-bracket. It get the mic approx. double the distance from the tape-drive (= 4 x reduction in SPL or Sound-pressure-level) and solved the problem. Only about $10 from B&H : http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search |
