Very wet and wild with an EX3. How to protect my baby.
Looks like my EX3 will take a bit of a thrashing over the next few months with some rather wet places both on 'land' and on the water.
All situations risk the camera getting thoroughly drenched, and a normal rain cover won't suffice. I need something that will stop water drenching the camera from all angles, including underneath, yet I don't want the heft of a full underwater housing. Anyone any ideas? I think I might have to make a custom job. |
See if EWA do a bag for the EX3? They are waterproof down to about 10m but still lightweight.
They ain't cheap for what they are but do work. J |
Yeah, I found the Ewa bags. I can't really justify £700 for a molded plastic bag with a lens attachment glued on. I'm also not sure why the Z7 bag is half the price of the EX3 one.

Yeah they are bloody expensive for what they are....but they do work well.
$700 as opposed to water on the cam maybe a good buy. Other option is make sure that you are insured, use a portabrace hope for the best and just claim water damage if it gets wet. j |
Simon,
I was on a one month trip to africa. 3rd day there camera took a dunk. 700 is cheap compared to the total expense of the trip and camera and everything included. Not counting what I did not get!!!!!!! |
You could also sell it when you get back, I'm sure they hold there value.
Or possibly rent one if you find a place that has one. |
Simon, unfortunately the EWA is your best bet for functionality and moisture protection without going to a full sized u/w housing. 700 isn't all that much compared to the cost of a new EX3 and we all know that without a functioning camera we're just some guy with crayons and a notepad.
