Photo Blinds for Video--Recomendations?

I think it's time to try shooting from a portable blind, and wonder if anyone has experience to share in selecting one for video. The problem with many of them is that they are made for still cameras and the height of the opening isn't sufficient for an onboard mike with a blimp, or to see around the camcorder (Canon XL series). Do those ones that drape over you and make you look like a camouflaged ghost actually fool anything? Does anyone have a favorite?

Steve,

Go to Cabela's and look at the Archery blinds.

I use a stand up blind, but I left it out and a plow wind hit and it shattered the graphite spars. It also makes noise in heavy winds. If you are going to be in heavier wind I would use a lower dome type.

I intend to get this one for next spring.

I see that you are in South Fla, and I am also. I have gotten a sitdown blind for about $100 from Dicks Warehouse. It is hot and very hard to see out of. I get much better shots out of my car with the window down or shooting out of the sun roof. I tried to take my john boat and cover it with a camo plastic cover. It made a lot of noise and was again very hot.

With all the great Parks in Florida, the birds are very tolerant of people and do not fly away. I have gone deep in the Glades and not been able to get within 75 feet of birds. On some of the busy trails in the parks, you could get close enough to kick some of the birds.

Drop me an e mail if you want to use and test my blind. I live in Cape Coral, close to Ding Darling.
