Where can I find funding.

Hello everyone! I was approached by a not for profit company that has developed a rehab program for deer and other animals and are looking to produce a video to share their new ideas with other animal shelters. They have tasked me in finding a place to find grants to fund this project. I was hoping that someone out there would know of a few places I can look and if you have any ideas where to look that apply to Canadians that would be great since I am up in the great white north. Thanks in advance.

Try government, primary industry or speak to environmental / conservation groups as they may have some contacts

Much easier to get it done for nothing than try to find money to do it. Grants almost always include their own overhead, time, trouble and expense. I'd contact a local college with a communications major. Most have some video capability and a student body that's video aware. Sounds like a very good student project.

I have to agree. I have just finished a natural history project (14min film). Its taken two years to complete and is for film festivals. I tried a number of avenues when starting out but all came to nothing. Lots of folks wishing me luck and asking to keep them posted, none unfortunately wanting to part with any cash!

I'd say have a clear objective of what you'd like to achieve with the film and then film it accordingly. It might take longer without the funds but you'll get there if you really want it !
