Gates Deep Epic
2 Attachment(s)
Well I've had my Gates Deep Epic now for a couple of weeks and it is working like a charm. I'm using it with the Tokina 10-17 and the images look great. I've done a few commercial pool shoots with it but unfortunately I can't post the footage, here are a couple of quick stills from a dive the other day. Visibility was only 4-5m so nothing mind blowing but it gives an you an idea. There are some images of the housing on my facebook page if anyone is interested.
http://facebook.com/ginclearfilm Happy to answer any questions and I'll post some decent footage in a week or so when the conditions get better here in Sydney. |
Re: Gates Deep Epic
Hi Jonathan, good for you! What is the price range of the Gates housing for Epic?
|
Re: Gates Deep Epic
Thanks Lauri,
It's 18K without ports, you are looking at about $25k for a working unit. J |
Re: Gates Deep Epic
Thats an expensive "toy" Jonathan!
Looking forward to view some lovely UW shot from down under... The Epic is a bit over my budget... But the new BMD CC looks like a nice steep up for me in to a more cinema camera. If I get one I'll build a housing for it.... How much light will you be using with you Epic? Twin HMI? |
Re: Gates Deep Epic
ha ha, yes very expensive toy! But it is paying it's way.
Generally down to about 15m in reasonably clear water I use natural light. Deeper than that I use HID's and LED's somewhere between 500 - 2000 lumens |
Re: Gates Deep Epic
Are you guys hiring? You have my dream job. That housing looks awesome.

Re: Gates Deep Epic
Looking good Jonathan!
Is it a Scarlet or Epic you are shooting with? |
Re: Gates Deep Epic
This was shot with a Scarlet which I own, but the great thing is it fits both.
