Re: Pollution in Madrid by Paul Wood - UWOL 36
Hi Paul.

Along with Bryce you deliver a film about climate changes.
Well, not quite the same but still.
I think you do it well and I like your VO with you British accent.
I wont cover what's allready been said about maps and so on.
What I think will improve you film is a little more use of music or background sound.
Just to cover the noticeable silence and noice between the various comment sections.
As I mention to Bryce, I think you too should send your film to Paris to the world leaders ;)
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Paul
I enjoyed watching this well contained piece. I think it had a good focus and scope for a short form video. Obviously having the in-city smog footage and traffic chaos would have really demonstrated what you talked about in the film. It was an interesting contrast to wind and snow in so many other films. Others have covered the relevant tweaks.

One trick to reduce room ambiance with the VO is to have subdued background music to help mask it (if it's white noise). Then if you split to VO into sections and align it with the shots you have, just apply fading to the start and finish of each clip to avoid a sudden hiss or change in noise at either end. In Premiere I just apply the crossfade (constant power) transition which defaults to around 1 second.
