Okay, Another Wild Idea
 

Hey all:

It may be that Spring is in the air here, but perhaps something is in the water too! I have another idea for UWOL to stretch out a bit.

How about considering to have one UWOL Challenge where whoever signs up for the challenge signs up to be a mentor to a kid who may not ever otherwise have the opportunity to handle a camera, go out and shoot nature and never in their wildest dreams would they think of entering a film in a contest. We are on UWOL 38, haven't we learned something to share with a disadvantaged kid? We could have the challenge as a "team" challenge but this time if we sign up, we will have a willing partner that has never had a camera before and we walk them through the entire process. But it will be their camera work, their story, their experience. We just help them along, from beginning to end, and then their films will get feedback and winners will be announced as usual. UWOL has made such a difference in our lives. It could potentially make a huge difference in others who just would not have the opportunity to do something like this unless UWOL helped them out in this way. Just think of what we ourselves might learn in the process too.

Like the other idea, it may flop, it may not logistically work out ... but then again, it just might turn out to be awesome and spark a whole new generation of talented filmmakers just waiting for an opportunity like this to grab their attention and start them in a new, exciting direction.
