Joey,
We don;t know what the theme is yet. I t may not have anything to do with wildflife.
It's a Under Water, Over land challenge. That can cover allot more than wildlife.
Heck, I'm here in Iowa, what am I gonna shoot pigs and cows? :)

James Huenergardt December 27th, 2006 03:30 PM

Well, I missed out on DVC7, I'll give this one a try.

Jim

Jeff Kilgroe December 27th, 2006 04:14 PM

I'm in...

I really don't have time for this, but I'll do it anyway. :-D

Brian McKay December 28th, 2006 11:02 AM

I'll give it a go......Meryem be kind with the theme, I'm up to my arm pits in snow here.

Darryl Ahye December 28th, 2006 11:40 AM

Alex Leith December 28th, 2006 03:13 PM

Count me in, too! I have no time or money, but I'm always up for a challenge.

Dale Guthormsen December 28th, 2006 10:58 PM

Ha, I only have on more day (29th) -- have been "stuck" in lovely old Bristol for a week!

Meryem Ersoz December 29th, 2006 10:57 AM

*ding ding ding*

*thunderous applause*

dale, you're our fortieth sign-up, so we're giving you a million dollars, a washer-dryer, and showering you with confetti.

heh. just kidding about the million dollars and the washer-dryer. the confetti's real, though!

my mind is blown, y'all...thanks for all your input, feedback, and enthusiasm. i'm so excited to see what you produce. bring on january 1, already!

p.s. due to the overwhelming response, i'm going to request that greg, our go-to wrangler, lock this thread at noon Dec. 31 on whatever time he is on--or whenever he can get around to it...or if he's not available whenever i can track someone down!....so if you're still on the fence or thinking about it, there will be a mid-day deadline to sign up.

Ken Diewert December 29th, 2006 01:44 PM

Meryem

40 sign-ups but what happens to those of us who fail to produce?

The DVC has a wall of shame. We will need something like that.

I realize I'm tempting fate here because I'm leaving the country on the 9th. So if mine ain't done by then... I'll be the very first (ever) to fail the UWOL Challenge... Oh my God!!!

BTW: I'll be logging in at 12:01 am on the first, and I expect to see a topic posted :)

Meryem Ersoz December 29th, 2006 01:51 PM

ken, rest assured, we'll have an extra-extra special place reserved to immortalize the first to fall!

it'll be stone or bronze...something that everyone will remember for years to come.

not to add any additional pressure or anything like that....

Fernando Ballesteros December 29th, 2006 03:59 PM

whats that? will be my first challenge and there are more than 40 players... this seems really difficult work

but count me in, meryem

And above all have fun!

Kevin

A challenge is why I like videoing wildlife and scenery. You never know for sure what you might find or what nature will throw at you.
Having fun and learning new ideas is one reason I'm throwing my hat in the ring.
Thanks.

We might need to extend this deadline just a bit... there are a number of new registrations waiting in the approval queue that I haven't been able to process since I've been out of town for the holidays. If a 24-hour amnesty is still possible at this point, I think it would be the fair thing to do, if it's all right with you guys.

Kevin Railsback December 31st, 2006 10:39 AM

So, lock it at noon tomorrow and then give out the theme right after that?
I don;t have a problem with that. As long as the revealing of the theme isn't delayed cause I can't take any more waiting! :)

Ken Diewert December 31st, 2006 11:28 AM

Well, I guess I'm the only one who would care so much, as I've got to be done by the 8th (along with about 1,000 other things). And I'm OK with the late start. I'll just have to scale back my pre-production meeting to the time it takes me to set up the tripod and remove the lens cap.

Maybe I can combine my problems and it could become my UWOL project. "Packing for a month away" or "How to fit a flyrod in a camera case" or "What to do when you're gear takes up ALL of your baggage limit" (this would be subtitled "How many layers of clothes can you wear on a plane")or, "How to edit in Vegas, while training a Temp." or the real kicker, "How to take a month off work, without anyone noticing".

Bring me your worst! Shorten the deadlines!

No don't, just kidding!

Kevin Railsback December 31st, 2006 11:42 AM

I don't think the theme reveal will be delayed.
I thought Meryem wanted the thread locked today at noon. And then the theme would be revealed tomorrow.
Then can still reveal the theme tomorrow as planned it's just that Chris is asking for the signup thread to be locked tomorrow instead of today.

Meryem Ersoz December 31st, 2006 11:53 AM

other than additionally torturing ken, i can't see any reason not to extend the sign-up deadline for 24 hours. we'll lock the sign-up thread january 1 at noon and announce the theme simultaneously. does that work? that doesn't change much.

Alex T. Hurter December 31st, 2006 02:12 PM

Count me in. Should be fun.
