Who's initials is KJR? I love Geocaching, and I almost did it as my film! lol!

I can't wait to see them!

Hey Gabriel,

That's me. :)

Don't get to excited. I didn't have a whole lot of time to work on it. :)

I basically shot it in one day and edited it all last night.

Per Johan Naesje March 22nd, 2007 04:57 AM

Kevin, Gabriel, is this geocaching something you do locally or is it more widespread? I heard that you can find coordinates for items spread out over the the entire planet earth?!
Should be fun to try some day, I have to get a GPS

Kevin Railsback March 22nd, 2007 05:03 AM

Per,

They're all over the world.

Check out http://www.geocaching.com

As you'll see in my film, you discover so much along the way.
Here in Iowa there are plenty of caches in a city setting, but I prefer the ones out in the middle of nowhere like the Indian Trails cache that's featured in my film.

Looks like I've started the hype on mine already. :) I hope it lives up to it!

Also, I use my GPS to mark locations that I want to come back to because the light's not right at that moment etc.

Good morning,

I never heard of geocaching, but from the posts I assume it is hunting for places using a gps.

I never go anywhere without my gps in the truck!!! I use it to mark trails to spots, ponds, leks etc. also traveling cross country it allows you to make fewer wrong turns.
Problem is I will soon have 500 way points, end of memory.

Brian McKay March 22nd, 2007 12:13 PM

There was an ad one time said something like "don't leave home without it" same goes for a GPS uphere. In the winter months I actually travel with two one near at hand to use and one on the very inside of my clothing right against my skin to keep the inards and the batteries of the thing in operating order just in case the one in use should quit from the cold. I've had the screen freeze up a few times.

With the price of them, everyone of us that ventures into the wild should have one and know how to use it properly.

My two cents worth LOL.

Brian

Gabriel Yeager March 22nd, 2007 04:52 PM

Yes, Geocaching is worldwide, and it is very fun. Everywhere you look, there is probably a GeoCache there. lol!

Brian, I have had mine freeze up in this last winter when we had a big snowstorm. It totally stopped working right when we almost got to our location.
So its a good idea that you have two!

I tried uploading my film twice today but I don't think it worked... I will email Meryem.

Kevin Railsback March 22nd, 2007 05:18 PM

Did you try to uploading it using FTP?

Gabriel Yeager March 22nd, 2007 08:55 PM

Yes, I was using an FTP. Both times it gave me an error message right after it finished. The file name is gy_recreationalthanks.mov. So if you have access, maybe you could look for it? I believe Meryem said she would, but I only have four hours before the deadline. So I need to get it going.

Sorry for the double post thingie..

I downloaded Cyberduck and it seemed to have uploaded right. Is there a way someone could check to make sure???

Thanks!
