Greetings

I just got me a new 5.6 LCD screen monitor. It is great but it is just too big. Is there a good quality monitor smaller than the 5.6. I have seen the citizen monitors and wonder the quality. The price leads me to believe that it is not.

I still plan to use my 5.6 monitor but I really would like a smaller screen/monitor. Anybody have a solution, I am all ears. I use a Cannon XL-1s most of the time in my field shoots.

Most of the Citizens I've ever seen have been dual-scan. You want TFT or active matrix. VariZoom has a 4" but there might be other sources for small displays.

There is a article on the watchdog site about a casio monitor. I have tried to find out more about the monitor and I am lost. Adam Wakely wrote the article.

any ideas?

Watchdog > Articles Menu > Electronic View Finder. You'll see it listed there.

Hi,

I have a Citizen and would not recommend the product for use in high end video. Refresh rates are poor, consequently when panning or moving all one sees is a blur.

Casio is just as bad. Adam Wakely wrote the article on my Watchdog site way back when, before the Active Matrix / TFT displays were affordable and easily available.

Stay away from Citizen and Casio and their dual-scan displays; stick with the displays that use the Active Matrix or TFT technology.

I'll trade you my small Casio VM-50, three-inch LCD monitor for your 5.6 LCD anytime! :)
Up close, the casio is ok, but I would love a bigger monitor.
The casio's brightness also changes as you move to view from a different location.

What is the type your using?

I will look at the model number when I leave the studio today, it's at home. My main problem with the 5.6 inch monitor is that it is just to big. I do not do much studio shooting. We are out in the field a lot. That big monitor is just in my opinion overkill. One of the great advantages of the XL is the great quality out of a small, light weight camera.

Even on the most creative shots I never have the camer more than arms length away. I don't want a monitor to check color and so on, just to help compose my shot. So I will not have to look in that little viewfinder.

I think the Stedicam Jr. comes with a 2.5 inch monitor. That is more my style. I did end up buying the casio moitor. I got it for about $50. I am still looking for something with a little better quality. Even though the monitor is 1.8 inch it is better than the eyepiece.

Any ideas? I am all ears. I really had stop looking.
