Color Production Monitor

I need help with lighting my scenes, better framing, focus, ect. The viewfinder on my XL1s just isn't doing it. I think this monitor is pretty good. If anyone has any alternatives for less $ I'd appreciate the suggestions. I think this is a good one though. Also, besides this, what do I need to get it to work. Just an RCA to BNC cable from the back of my XL1s to the monitor? Thanks, Bryan |
This JVC will get the job done, Bryan. It looks like a good value, although note that its resolution is modest (300 lines). Like all such monitors, video connection is indeed made via a BNC connection. If you have an MA-200 you can cable straight into its BNC jack. Otherwise, yup, you'll need an adapter.

Do RCA to BNC cables exist, or is there like a powered adapter that has to exist between them like for my XLR connections and my MA100?

That cable will work, although it's pretty long. If you have access to a Radio Shack you'll find RCA-BNC adapters for about $2 ea.
No, there's no power involved. |
Ken, that particular monitor has shvs, rca etc jacks---can't you use them to make your connection from your camera?
|
Only the BNC and SVHS are video inputs. The BNC is really the most practical connection from a camera.
