on-set production monitors
i tried the archive, but didn't find exactly what i was looking for. i figure i'll throw this out to the boards and see what you guys think:
i am in the market for a monitor that i can drag to the set to use in conjunction with my xl2 that will show me true color and exposure, as well as underscan. i've cruised through the b&h catalog, but can't really make a determination about why some cost 700 bucks and others 2500. anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, i'd very much appreciate them. |
Chris, check out this thread, among others.

The main differences in price are the following features:
SMPTE C phosphors underscan 16:9 blue gun (blue only) size The best monitors accept a calibration probe. For your needs, probably look at something like the Sony PVM-8045Q, which is an 8" monitor for field use. Ikegami also makes NTSC monitors... check their b stock sales on their websites for a deal. Don't buy used unless you get to test the monitor beforehand. |
