Well if it was available

I have gone to order the SmallHd twice now and they are on back order.

I was once looking at the ikan v8000hd, any opinons?

Focus then color are my reasons for getting a field monitor. It will be on the camera. One annoying thing about the SmallHd is I can't use my sony batts, I'm not a big fan of having only one source for batteries.

I may need to purchase soon, I'm open to feedback.

I got a new JVC GY-HD250U to replace my ageing JVC GY-HD110U. When I was swapping everything, for some reason I decided to give the DP1 another shot. I'm not sure if it was the component DA I had been using, some whacked settings on the DP1 during my first try or my old JVC camera, but when I started shooting last Sunday with the new rig the DP1 performed flawlessly! I didn't experience any of the color banding or strobing, contrast and saturation were solid and the image was SHARP!

I'm really happy with the DP1 and looking forward to mounting the other two we bought atop our two other cameras. Highly recommend!

Mark - I think you'll find that most of these monitors have pretty specialised transcoders in them - the DP1 is generally expecting a 1080 signal and probably performs best when downscaling that to it's native res. The 110 is a native 720P camera with component only out - so it could have been any one of the links in the chain - the component to HDMI adapter, the scaling the camera was doing (if it was) in combination with the scaling the monitor was doing. My old Marshall looks better when I'm feeding it SD component and looks slightly "soft" when I feed it HD. So scaling engine not so good..

I'm lucky because I now own a JVC HM700 and the LCD on that is awesome! Not as big as the ones discussed in this thread of course.

Actually, the only difference between my "before" rig and "after" was the camera itself and the DA which I no longer needed.

Before: JVC GY-HD110U, 720p component HD out -> component DA -> component in on the DP1
After: JVC GY-HD250U, 720p component HD out -> component in on the DP1

So no scaling in either camera, no component-to-HDMI adapter ever used, no scaling in the DP1.
