Here is another question: why are you still considering the Dreamcolor when it has all these requirements and you can get something like the Eizo CG243W that doesn't require anything but a 10 bit connection AND does not suffer from Dithering issues like the HP? I'm not so sure about this "dithering" issue. Too many variables involved to state for sure that the panel does this.

The tester / OP of that forum thread states that they had 24bit source material feeding at 1080i....BUT doesn't state what video card or OS they are using for this test.

Isn't the requirement for this monitor 10bit RGB material for it to perform as HP states?

One thing for sure though, it is a 30bit panel.

Andrew, have you read all the Dreamcolor articles on provideocoaltion? One of the main points in one of those articles was that the Dreamcolor is designed for video, not photography.

AFAIK, the HP only calibrates for video use but the Eizo can store calibration settings for both video and photography editing allowing you to switch between the saved settings.

About the Dithering issue: HP acknowledged the problem with their firmware upgrade and how it changed the spatial and temporal dithering pattern. Even HP's Dreamcolor product manager, Dan Bennett admitted this.
