recommend an "affordable" monitor with scopes & rgb parade

please recommend an "affordable" monitor with scopes & rgb parade.

i know "affordable" is a moving target, different for each person.

i know that many will suggest a marshall, a smallhd, a tvlogic or the new odyssey line.

i shoot with the sony fs100 which has hdmi.

i probably should future proof by adding sdi-hdmi.

i'm hoping that someone will suggest an option that i have not already taken a look at.

thanks in advance to those who care to share.

be well.

What's YOUR "affordable?"

I think Ikan makes the cheapest ones with those features, though many folks don't have great things to say about that brand. I was looking at the Ikan Vx7i which is about $900, and has all those features and more.

The one to beat now seems to be the Odyssey7/7Q by Convergent Design that just came out (don't even think they're both widely available yet). These are supposed to be very nice and have all those features you mentioned, and more, plus recording capability (I just want a monitor myself). The 7 (no Q) runs $1300.

These are all 7" monitors I've mentioned, some folks think that's too large for on-cam. Ikan, again, has some 5" ones (D5w--don't know price offhand) and the TV Logic 5.6" is well-respected ($12 or 1300).

For HD work, Flanders Scientific makes the most affordable *professional* monitor with lots of features including scopes and RBG parade. Their 17" is about $2500.

FSI 17 Inch Broadcast Monitor

HTH and as always, YMMV.
