NEBTEK 5.8'' 16/9 lcd scrren

probably for the price is does not compete with a cheap LCD at same resolution.
even for dv 400x234 pixel is really POOR.

I got 7 or 8 lcd screens and they all have something nice.
the first one is a cheap 150$ 7inches lcd, very bright but low res for my shoulder support. It is nice to keep the subject in the frame.
you can flip and mirror picture, it take PAL and NTSC, does not eat to fast mey batteries. Colors are ugly and there is no way to display 4/3 picture, so it is stretched if you display a 4/3 signal.
the second one is a professional LCD from SONY, high resolution (800x600), 4/3 format but able to display properly 16/9. it take composite and Y/C input, has output too and the menu offers several options like overscan and superimposed frame. it is not so bright than the first one. but it costs more than 10x the price of the first one.
the third one (a liliput) is just in the middle. hi-res, low light, small size, fewoptions in menu , only composite but has PC input (and touch screen but i removed it).
Plus some others cheap small screens (4inch, 5.6, ).
Frankly the one i use the most is the first one, but your own use could lead to differents choice.
my opinion is that anyway you will not get anything good from a small LCD screen, so spending lots of money on it is non-sens, since it will not improve the quality of your video.
if your are not doing 16/9, buy a less than 100$ 4/3 5.6 inch and make your own opinion.

I thought about using a portable DVD player. You can purchase a cheap DVD player with a 10" screen for under 250.

The better portables have great features like color control and brightness, etc...

Connect the DVD player via the av in to your camcorder. Using a phono to phone cable.

The best part, when you're not shooting, you can watch a DVD movie. Get one with the THX optimization feature, like a Star Wars movie and calibrate your monitor as best you can.
