Affordable Monitor for HDV editing

My PC has a dual output DVI videocard.

I currently use DVI->RGB adapters to connect 2 monitors to it, one LCD and another CRT (neither has DVI in).

The setup is "extended desktop" to the right (CRT) monitor.

The idea is that CRT shows more subtle detail than LCD. So my PremierePro Monitor Window is showing on the right, CRT, monitor.

Problem: that monitor (Iiama) is 21" 4x3 model. I need a much larger one, to actually see the HDV image detail.

I was thinking, why not replace the right monitor with a 30" 16:9 CRT HDTV (and match it's resolution and ratio with a new LCD on the left.)

What resolution should it support, ideally - 1920x1080? Lower-? What refresh rate?

Are there any HDTV CRT monitors with either DVI or HDMI input that support such input signal?

What do you think of devices like Sony KD30XS955, Philips 30PW8402 ...as rather cheap 30" HDV editing system monitors? (and no, I don't care about the weight in this case.)

The latter is HD and conveniently mounts on a C-stand.

This is for my video studio, mobility isn't important.

Yes, I was looking into the possibility of using 2 x Dell 2405 's instead of CRT.

I read only good things about them - but I'm yet to find a professional videographer's review of one.

Do you have one? How is it for video editing - colors? brightness? geometric distortions? uniformity across the screen? subtle details in black/white areas?

Is 24" even enough for HDV, given the monitor is at, roughly, 3' distance from my eyes?

Dell's 24" HD monitors on sale. Check out Techbargains.com or click the link in the SDTV/HDTV monitor forum I submitted.

Thanks Xavier, I did get 2 of those (dual display system) and am very happy.

I was at Costco purchasing some TDK mini DV tapes when I was browsing through the coupons that Costco offers.

I took a look at the Dell site and Costco's for a price comparison, after seeing that Costco was offering a $50.00 off coupon.

Well, Costco's site showed the price at 799.99 and Dell's site was cheaper by 50 cents or so.

I'm thinking Dell is getting rid of the 2405's for a new model. Hopefully they'll sell the 2405's for a much cheaper price when the new model comes out.

Is this model being discontinued?
