New Demo Reel
 

Just wanted to see if anyone would chime in on my new demo reel. This was shot mostly with a Sony Z5 and a little XH-a1 thrown in for good measure. Cut and graded in FCP. I don't own a Steadicam or Glidetrack, so I make the best of what I have. Let me know what you think. I welcome constructive criticism.

Hi Mark,

I did not miss the fact that you had no steadicam or glidetrack footage!

You had some creative, and lovely shots in there.

Just a few points based on my observation.

I felt the vows shot did not flow well with your other creative shots. The zooming in followed by a dissolve detracted from the rest of the piece.

The shot of bride and father completely blurred did not work for me, and finally the end shot could have been more creative! you have many in this piece, rather than use the one of the car leaving.

Overall a very niece piece.

Hello Mark, I want to be honest I only watched the first 30 secs or so - that being said I don't know how valuable my feedback is. The reason I only watched the beginning is because the playback was CHOPPY. I think it is a combination of the frame rate conversion and the fact that my laptop hard drive is COMPLETELY full of muck. If I get a chance to watch it on my other system then I'll watch the whole thing.

With that out of the way, I want to say that the color and framing looks great. I'm sure most of those shots were handheld - but you can't tell! Great variation, great transitions, great music. Also one thing that really makes a professional video stand out is nice crisp text, and you got that. Hmm...can't think of anything bad to say, at least about the beginning. As the post above mentions, the zoom+cross dissolve is a dreaded transition, and rarely works out. Sorry I didn't get to see the whole thing.
