Save the Date

I shot a Save the Date video yesterday night... It's cold up here in New Jersey so the couple wanted to do something inside their house. I think the idea was good but could have been executed a little better. I had the fun, right down to making the book cover...

If you take into account the limited space and sceneries ( -:) ) you had to work with, you did the video just fine! Also the concept was perfect for the limitations you had. Loved the song.

Nice work Steve - always look forward to seeing your pieces. Looks like you brought the best out in the couple.

Good concept and solid delivery mixed with some nice creativity. Did seem a little slow at times but only so much you can do I guess with the one locations and storyline. The image did seem a little dark too - was that intentional?

Nice job on the book cover design too! Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Dimitris and Matt...

Thanks guys for taking the time to watch/comment... This was all shot in their kitchen, so the space was pretty tight. The bride-to-be also told me that they didn't want to say anything in front of the camera (interview setup)... So that pretty much cut down on a lot of possibilities right there. I liked the concept and might do something like this again. I see some mistakes that I'm not proud of, but I know I'll be able to correct them in the future.

Matt... It kinda feel slow for myself as well. I was really digging to get as much out of the video I had to work with. I made the mistake of not shooting any romantic b-roll (just them kissing, hugging, laughing, ect..) My attention was to also make the book scene a little darker then the others just so it stood out. The problem was that I normally shoot with 500W/250W lights. The couple had a house fire a few months before the shoot where they lost a lot... I didn't want to roll in there with my high wattage lights and kind of make the situation uneasy for them. So elected to use just standard 100 and 60W bulbs...

Thanks for the comments once again gentlemen... I'm looking forward to returning the favor on your future videos.
